Does windy weather cool down the temperature during a sunny day?

Weather question - how come the predicted lows for a certain day are higher than the temperature at that time?

  • Sometimes the predicted high and low that is stated for a specific city is not even close. ie the temperature may be 55 degrees currently and the predicted low is 67. How does that happen that it is off by so much or at least isn't modified to account for the current temperature

  • Answer:

It is the predicted low. A forecast is made before the actual day arrives. Meteorologists who have spent many years in college and have become scientists use computer models and data generated from radar to make a very educated observation of given conditions on certain days. They are not always 100% correct, but I think it is wrong for people to expect them to be 100% correct. Then again they may have put 67 in for the low when they meant to say that would be the high. They won't modify the prediction to account for the current temperature. Also, when a station reports the current temperature, that is the current temperature at whatever location they are currently at and may not reflect the temperature where you are located.
