What is the weather like in New Zealand throughout the year?

In the North Island (where most of the people are) the temp is 40 to 85 degrees F The summer is the driest, but it does rain a lot during the other three seasons I'm not to sure about the South Island, I know it does get colder and they get plenty of snow in the New Zealand Alps Its an awesome place to visit or get tan around Christmas and Boxing Day
