Why do Autumn leaves fall?

Do the leaves fall in the south during autumn?

  • I am from Michigan and have always had all 4 seasons. I just moved down to Mississippi 3 months ago and was wondering if the leaves fell here too? I was taught that the leaves fall because of cooler temperature, but it hasn't fallen below 70 here yet... Thanks!

Hi gal well i live in Mississippi as well ... Yep they fall cause i got some in my back yard to prove it. Wont be long before the whole yard is covered in dead fallen leaves. BTW i live in the northern part.Umm that might make a difference.

They fall but most areas don't get the colors you did in Michigan. Still, fall in the Mississippi delta is my favorite season....until spring comes along. Hope you enjoy your stay in Mississippi.
