In new jersey in summer time does it get hotter than virginia?

• my mom says im boring because i rather stay inside than go out side because i hate the heat i like to go out side in the winter or late at night my mom says when she was a kid she would stay outside all day i said it is cooler and not as hot in new jersey she said back that it got just as hot in new jersey as virginia

  Virginia in the piedmont and mountains is cooler than most of New Jersey, the shore area of NJ is windier, Virginia is generally more humid with hotter average temperatures in the summer (maybe a couple degrees or two), but not significantly so. We both get hurricanes but NJ sees very few tornados or significant hail any time of year. The moderating effects of the Atlantic ocean are nice for both states, but Virginia has much nicer pleasant mountains in summer
