How long after your menstrual cycle are you fertile?

How long does a menstrual cycle last after having given birth?

  • I know its takes a couple of weeks for the woman to get her period, but how long does it last? sorry for those who think this is gross!

  • Answer:

You mean the bleeding after giving birth? It's not a menstrual cycle per say. I think I bled for 2 weeks after I had my daughter. I really don't remember though exactly how long. Just make sure you have lots of pads.

Right after having a baby you bleed for about a month. Then after that stops, periods should go back to normal.

It totally depends on whether or not you're nursing, how your body is responding to minipills or regular pills (if you're taking them), and what your normal cycle is like. I didn't get a period for 8 months after my first baby, and 11 months after my second. When I did get my period after my older girl, it was about 5 days. When I got my period after my baby, it lasted almost a month!

In my own experience, after giving birth, I bled for about 2 to 3weeks straight immediately after giving birth, my first period was a couple weeks later, and lasted the normal 3-5 days.
