What is the Staff to Child ratio in a nursery?

How do I help my child be less clingy but not feeling neglected (UK)?

  • I'm only 3 months pregnant but as im so young (hitting 17), i want to find out as much as i can. I was thinking of starting college as its free, as i will be entitled to "care to learn" and as i want to be able to get child care qualifications in order to get a job in future. I am well aware that it is perfectly normal for a child to be clingy at the age of 8 months, but i cant bare the thought of leaving our child with a trusted family member or nursery staff feeling unstable and scared. The course is only for one year and my sisters have told me just to go on benefits but my partner works and also, i just dont think its fair that working people will have to folk out for our child. therefore i want to do things properly and work hard. My boyfriend and his family are very close and supportive towards eachother. he also has a big family so im wondering whether this will help our child to feel safe with other people? I dont want my child to feel neglected so please dont get the wrong end of the stick, i just want the best life possible for our child in future to come. I am well aware that this has been achieved as adults go back to work after taking maturnity leave, so it is achievable, i just want to know how to make it much easier for our child. Thankyou for replys

  • Answer:

alot of colleges have a nursery in them so you can take the kids with you. my son is 6 months old and i wpuld like to start college but i was worried about leaving him. im going to wait til after he sone before i enrol, that way i get to spend alot of time with him first. i think its good for chldren to go into nurserys though as they can interact with children their own age. dont worry about it too much, do what you feel is best.
