Is family still eligible for COBRA/ARRA after I get a job?

If I get a job for me and my baby, my family will get kicked off our health insurance?

  • My baby is going to be born in November. I'm sixteen years old and although my boyfriend has a part time job, it's not going to be enough for the baby after a while. I would love to get a job, but my family's health insurance would add my income onto my dad's work income... Meaning that our family would be above the income limits for our insurance, and we would get kicked off. My boyfriend's family has offered to let me move in, so I could get a job, receive insurance from the state, where our baby would be covered as well. But my parents won't hear anything about it. This would be fine, except for the fact that my parents won't be helping us out at all financially, which I wouldn't expect them to. In a situation like this though what am I supposed to do? I can't get welfare either, that would also kick us off our insurance. How can we raise a baby with not enough money to keep us going as our baby grows?

  • Answer:

you should be able to get heath insurance if you got welfare help. so it would not matter if you got kicked off your parents medical insurance. have you asked your parents what they think you should do? they won't let you move out and be able to work and support your child. they won't help you while you live in their house.. what do they expect you to do??
