carrying a son likely? My husband has 7 other siblings. 5 older brothers and 2 younger sisters and his mom's first child was a boy. Also he has a couple brothers who have had sons the first time. Is this genetic? And will my husband and I have a son?

Answer:
It would add to the fact that they all have boys if you did, but be prepared to also maybe have a girl- In our family girls always come first- my great -grandma, grandma, mom, all were the first girls and oldest siblings, I was born before my brother, and my aunt had a girl first too. So they were excited in the fact that I might have a little girl- no such luck ..lol I have a beautiful baby boy....It all depends. You have a 50/50 chance- good luck and congrats..

You need to know when you are ovulating. There are over the counter ovulating tests in your local drug store. Please don't take offense, as I need to get technical. As you know, there are male and female sperm. The female sperm live longer than male sperm. Obviously, you want the male sperm to fertilize your ovum. Here is the tricky part. Your fertility can be determined by the amount of mucous your vagina produces. The mucous production peaks, and you are most fertile, when you are ovulating, which is when your ovum is moving through the fallopian tube and into your uterus. The male sperm is faster and stronger than the female sperm, and will use the mucous in your vagina to literally swim up and enter the uterous where it impregnates the awaiting ovum. A male sperm can survive for up to 12 hours, whereas a female sperm can live from three to five days, depending on your fertility. So, the bottom line is you need to have intercourse within 12 hours of your ovulation to optimize the probability that you will conceive a male. Also, your husband should abstain from any sexual activity 72 hours before trying to conceive.

We thought that would happen to us.... my brother-in-law has 2 boys, my hubands cousins have 2 boys apiece.... no girls anywhere! I really wanted a boy and hubby wanted a girl. We will have the first grandbaby on my side, so if it turned out to be a girl, the child was going to be incredibly spoiled. Went for my second US 3 weeks ago, and lo and behold....... no penis! First girl grandbaby on his side and first grandbaby period on mine. I am going to be raising a princess!

Nope, thats not genetic. You have a 50/50 chance of having a girl first. Its an odd trend, but not uncommon in families. If you sit down and figure it out statistically, I'm sure there it is all chance. Your first born might be a girl so just in case (since I'm sure they will all be buying little blue things for baby) you might want to find out the sex at your ultrasound... at least then you can prove before the birth that your baby is indeed a girl.

My grandmas first child was a boy, my moms first was a boy, my sisters first was a boy, my BF's mom's first was a boy. My first was a girl. You aren't genetically prone to have on sex over the other. It depends on the sperm that reaches the egg first. Each sperm has either an x or a y chromosome. Your egg has just an x chromosome. If the sperm carries an x, you get a girl, if it carries a y, you get a boy.

It depends on who has the strongest genes I guess. My family (with one exception) all my cousins are girls and all of them had boys first including my sister. My husband is hoping for a girl cuz he already had a boy so we'll see.
