How should I ask for a raise?

Nanny: How to ask for a raise?

  • I am a live in nanny and believe I have gone above and beyond my nanny duties. I stay late or work early with nearly no notice. I signed the child up for and take her to gymboree class. I do necessary grocery shopping. I'm always sure to do the child's laundry when it needs down, baths, and cleaning up after the child. I clean up after their cat (poop and puke, which isn't part of my job) I go above and beyond to make sure the child is safe, feels loved, and is learning everyday. I have been nannying for the family for a little over a year and I did reserve a Christmas bonus but I would really like a raise. Our contract will be up in May and they have asked me stay with them until December. When should I ask for a raise? And how should I ask for a raise? I was thinking about waiting until May, but thought maybe I should bring it up before hand so they know I am wanting a raise.

  • Answer:

Be confident and professional when pleading your case and hopefully your boss will appreciate all the hard work that you do for her family and pay you accordingly. But you will never no unless you ask. Good Luck
