How do you start a crisis intervention center?

Does anyone know anything about starting a pregnancy crisis center?

  I think that's a great idea. Any book or class about starting a non-profit would probably be useful. There is a website called chicksincrisis.org that provides services along the lines of what you're speaking of, so maybe it would be helpful to check that out. That's about all I know, but I hope you pursue the idea...because of the religious nature of the centers, they tend to get a bad rap, when they are really such wonderful pro-woman centers. They help women to keep their children, regardless of their religious affiliations and w/out pressure to convert, and in my experience (I've been to several of these places over the years w/friends and used one once myself), they DO NOT push adoption, and they offer non-judgmental, supportive counseling for post-abortive women. Attorneys and social service agencies DO push adoption, because it is in their interest $$$$$. While Planned Parenthood is great for providing birth control, they aren't going to help you get clothing and diapers for your future child or provide you w/any sort of sustained support in the decision to raise your child. These centers are great, especially for single women who might feel abortion is their only way out, even if they don't truly want to do that. So, I know you didn't ask for my opininon on all of this, but I definitely want to encourage you to pursue it b/c I think it is so needed...maybe if some of these centers existed in a non-secular way, more people would open their eyes to how practical and useful they are.
