Pregnancy after Tubal Ligation?

Is unexpected ectopic pregnancy not covered by medical insurance even if I had my tubal ligation 7 yrs ago?

  • I had my tubal ligation 7 years ago but had an unexpected pregnancy last month. I had an emergency surgery last December, but my insurance company doesn't want to shoulder my expenses. My MSP will be effective this coming February that's why I bought this medical insurance just for emergency purposes. Can anyone help me I jsut arrived in Canada last Nov 2005 as working visa.

  • Answer:

I'm not sure how it works in Canada, but in the U.S., persistence, documentation from your doctor, and careful record-keeping can help you cut through insurance red tape. If you received word that you are not covered by mail, call the customer service phone number provided to you. Talk to a human being and find out why you're not covered. If you don't get a satisfying answer, ask to speak with a supervisor. Ask if there is an appeal process. Document every phone call, and get the name of every person you speak with. It may take a lot of time and effort to fight, but you are in the right! I'm sorry you have to deal with this, and good luck to you!
