Why does my pregnancy belly fluctuate?

Luteal Phase and Pregnancy Test Question?

  • I begun charting on FertilityFriend.com and have only completed one full chart now. I had a Luteal Phase of 11 Days. My husband I have tried getting pregnant this month, and today is 11DPO. Meaning, tomorrow AF should come. I took a test on Saturday (2 mornings ago), and it was negative. I am hoping to retest tomorrow. I was wondering two things: 1. How much can my luteal phase fluctuate? Will it come tomorrow, or does the luteal phase differ from month to month? 2. As tomorrow will be 12DPO, what percentage of positive pregnancy tests happen around this time? (I've been using First Response, not digital). Thanks everyone. Baby Dust to all!

  • Answer:

Your LP does not fluctuate (and should not) month to month, it should rarely change. It is not odd for it to be a day longer or shorter here and there, but it typically will remain the same always. 12dpo is still on the earlier side, but with a sensitive test like FR, it may be positive at this point. Otherwise, they are supposed to be 99% accurate at 14 dpo. Be sure to test with first morning urine, as it is the most concentrated. The closer you test to the day your period is expected, the more accurate the hpt becomes. Good luck to you!
