Is there a way to change my menstrual cycle?

Is there any way to change my cycle length?

  • i came off the pill at the begining of october last year, since then i have only had 4 periods but they have come at regular intervals of 45 - 47 days. i used opks last cycle and did get a positive on day 32, so the long cycles are not caused by a lack of ovulation. i was wondering what could be causing it to be so long, whether it is 'normal', and if it could impact on my fertility? obviously it is making ttc harder as in the last 6 months i have only had 4 'windows of opportunity'! is there anything i can do/take to make my cycle shorter?

  • Answer:

cycles of that length are not considered normal. there is an underlying hormonal problem, even if you are ovulating, you may want to speak to your doctor, clomid or metformin may help get you back on track, also I have read that when things are really out of sync that you can get a positive opk and still not ovulate, you just get the lh surge, it's hard to tell unless you are keeping a bbt chart.

You could try going to see a chiropractor or accupunturist. Many would say they could help with this sort of thing. I have a friend who mentioned to a chriopractor (when she was in her 30s) that her periods had always come every 3 weeks, and he did a few little tweeks on her neck and from there on afterwards, they came every 4 weeks!
