Is it normal to have cramping on one side during early pregnancy?

Can you detect ectopic pregnancy as early as just one week?

  • I am ttc and won't know if I am pregnant until the first week of February. Since three days I getting strange symptoms which look like pregnancy symptoms such as tiredness, bloating, cramps etc. Since yesterday, I started experiencing a bit lower back pain, abdominal cramping, bloated/swollen abdomen a persistent pain which is more on right side; I can even locate a small pea sized spot where the pain is. Could it be ectopic pregnancy? Can you tell so soon? If I am pregnant, I can't be more than one week gone...is it possible to tell so soon?

  • Answer:

Implantation doesn't occur until between 7 and 12 days post ovulation, so if you can't test until the first week in Feb technically your not pregnant yet so an ectopic would be out of the question. There may be a chance you have a small cyst that's causing the pain or it's rupturing (happens every now and again but generally with only mild discomfort). If the pain becomes too much you really need to get a professional medical opinion. Very best of luck.
