Do you ovulate after you have the most EWCM?

Has anyone gotten EWCM and didn't ovulate?

  • After I got my period from provera withdrawal in November, I had ewcm on cd11 and I must have never ovulated because I never got my period and i wasn't pregnant. I also got the ewcm later that month. I seem to have a lot of fertile cm without ovulation. Could my body be trying to ovulate and regulate itself since it is off kilter from getting off bc? I am wondering because I have been charting for the last two months. I got my period last week (I am on cd 11) but I didn't ovulate before that which means it was an anovulatory bleed. Anyway, I got the creamy, lotiony cm yesterday and today I got really stretchy ewcm. I am hoping that my body is really going to work this time and I will ovulate in a day or two but I am worried that it is just a false alarm. And no, I do not have a vag infection! Has this happened to anyone?

  • Answer:

Yes, this has happened to me a few times. They were anovualtory cycles. Sometimes EWCM is not a good enough indicator that ovulation is nearing. Several patches of EWCM can signal an anovulatory cycle. However, if you notice it after you believe you've ovulated, don't be alarmed. It is normal to get a 2nd round of EWCM in the TWW due to a second small surge of estrogen. I notice I get it before AF shows up to crash the party. In your case, I would say you are correct about the anovulatory bleed, and the several rounds of EWCM was an indicator of the anovulatory cycle. It could certainly be your body trying to normal itself out after coming off the BC. You're not alone, and I pray that your body regulates this cycle and ovulates :) Good luck to you and sending you TONS of baby dust!
