Why does my mouth taste like i'm sucking on a piece of metal?
-
My cup of tea also tastes horrible (not the kettle...it's only 2 weeks old). I can taste metal. The taste is stronger when i drink my tea and the after taste of the tea, but i've been noticing a subtle metal taste all day. What is this?!

Answer:
Are you TTC? This could be a sign of pregnancy! Either that or you have bleeding gums or a dental problem. Let's hope it's none of the latter! Good luck, take a test when AF is due x Just seen your update...sounds promising! Fingers crossed fellow TTC'er! x

If you're pregnant, I've found that most women I asked had girls - it's the hormones changing the taste of your blood and I had a girl too! Nothing gets rid of the taste but chewing gum helps?

It could just be a horrible symptom of pregnancy but ask your doc. I know everyone says that but I had metal tastes in my mouth and it ended up being a sign of liver failure. I doubt this is what you have but pregnancy is very taxing on your liver so it is a good idea to get it checked out. Other symptoms of this would be itchy skin, yellowish skin, dark urine, clay colored bm ( I know its a little gross but I almost died and you should be aware of the symptoms), and finally yellow whites of the eyes. If you have any combination or all of these you should get checked. Sorry to be a downer but better to be safe than sorry.

It's a well-documented pregnancy symptom, so you should consider doing a test (first thing tomorrow morning would be best). You might also be super-sensitive to the tannin in your tea. My sister, a PG Tips addict extraordinaire, got a positive pregnancy result last Friday. She went from drinking 3 cups at breakfast (and several others throughout the day) down to just one cup at breakfast. She simply can't bear the taste of it anymore, and that was her first pregnancy symptom. Good luck!

That's what happened to me with my first pregnancy. It was awfully annoying. I'm not sure what causes it. I think it's when you have a lot of a vitamin or mineral in your system.

Some medications can do that.

I had the same thing happen to me in early pregnancy. It tends to go away after 12 weeks.

Certain kinds of medication can cause this... i.e. iron.
