How long did it take you to get pregnant after you stopped taking birth control?

I didn't get pregnant but my girlfriend got pregnant almost immediately after stopping the pill. She had been on it from being 18 and came off it at 29. I have other friends who took longer to get pregnant, it varies from person to person. Try taking folic acid for three months before trying to conceive, it makes it less likely for your child to have congenital defects. Good luck and have fun trying.

A lot depends on what your taking but it only took me less than six months after i stopped taking it.

I did the same thinking that it would take a while. I stopped a few months before the wedding and ended up being 9 wks pregnant on my wedding day!! So, the answer for me was like Immediately!!!

Ok I will give you the information that was passed on to me from my Dr. I went off the pill last October (05) after 11 years and still in December of 06 I am not pregnant. I feel it all depends on the person. It could take a month or a year. All you want to do is start charting your periods and ovulations so that when you do actually become pregnant you will know when. That is really why people say to wait a couple months before trying so your periods are normal.

One week. Yep, I'm serious. My children are 14 months apart...BE CAREFUL! If you are trying NOT to get pregnant before the wedding date, you need to SERIOUSLY consider using a condom or spermicide EVERY TIME. Trust me on this one.

i got pregnant right away...didn't expect it to happen so quickly. But it's all good.

It varies wildly person to person. I went off the pill in July after being on it for 14 years (I'm 33). After 3 months I still hadn't gotten my period (and I wasn't pregnant) so I went to an OB-GYN doctor, who ran some tests and gave me medication to induce my period and to make me ovulate (2 different meds). I found out just last week that I'm pregnant!

Of course, I'm sure you know everyone is different but just some info. about my sister and I conceiving...We did right away. I was on the pill for a while and then began getting the shot. Well, that made me really sick. So, I did not get it when it was due and I was pregnant that month. Same for my sister, She has been on the pill for years and got off to get pregnant and she was pregnant within that month too. Right now I just got off pills again to try for my second child. My only problem is that I haven't gotten my period yet. They say after you have been on the pill for so long and you go off of it you may not have a period for up to 3 months. So now I'm trying to figure out am I ovulating at the same time I normally would if I count it from when I was suppose to start my period. Good luck! Hope it was helpful.
