Can you plan on twins?

  • My husband really wants our next baby(ies) to be twins. I keep telling him there's no way we can "program" it so we can have twins. We're fertile, we don't have any problems with conception (knock on wood), so we don't need fertility treatments, which I know can increase your chances of not just twins, but all around multiple births. So - I'm pretty sure that it's just luck of the draw in terms of whether or not you are blessed with twins. (I know that if you have twins in your family, it increases your odds - but doesn't guarantee them - as well.) Am I correct in my assumptions or is there something I'm missing?

    Clomid doesn't always give you twins. I was on clomid for two cycles (Meaning I took it for 3 months then stopped when it didn't worked, waiting another 3 months, then went on it again for 3more months). And nothing. I then went thru Artificial Insemination and we have twins! A boy/girl twins. W/out medical intervention it is a luck of the draw. Becareful what you wish for it looks easy having twins but it is not!!!! Wouldn't change it for the world but let me tell you it is Hard work!!!

even though you don't need it take clomid, it might double your chances, also I think the older you are the more likely it is

may sound funny but maybe you need to try the technique i used and succeeded i always argued with my husband saying i wanted a little boy he would say well i want a little girl constantly so quess what we ended up with twins a boy and a girl he got what he wanted and i got what i wanted every bodies happy

Yes,you can but not so easily and naturally. Around the time of ovulation,the ovaries show some remarkable changes in shape,size. Knowing whether both or onlyone ovary is showign changes can be used to know if both ovaries are ovulating.This can be found using ultra-sonography(USG).Please consult a doctor regarding this You could possibly given synthetic hormones but they can risk your pregnancy.

Twins can be a higher genetic probability if the MOTHER has a history of twins in her family. (Note the father being a twin has no bearing on the female's proferring two eggs in a given month. This is of course, dependant on the fact that you are trying to have fraternal twins and not identical twins. A warm bath after conception could induce identical twins, but is a huge risk to the well being of you and your children.
