What is a missed period?

I missed 2 expected monthly period in a row = negative HPT result took today ! what's wrong with me?

  • i am 21 years old , my last period was dec10,2011, and i took HPT today for the second time , the first time i took HPT was the 10t day i missed my period , i supposed to had my period jan 9 , and feb 8 .. i live in the philippines so its it feb 10 today ( 12:24 midnight so its 10th already ) . i dont know whats wrong with me , but i expected two lines on my HPT today but it wasnt came out positive ! i am totally messed up and i feel really really bad ! pls tell me what could be wrong , and what you think is going on ! again I TOOK HPT TODAY AND IT WAS NEGATIVE , i want to have a baby , but i dont know whats wrong why i still havent got a POSITIVE HPT :( , all this time i thought i am pregnant but today HPT told me i wasnt ! :(( is there anyone of you happens to experienced this kinda thing and later on PREGNANT .? - i cant go to the doc cos they cost a lot here in the philippines , people here really sucks! BTW for an additional question : last year i was late 9 days before i got my period , and i went to the doc on the 7th or 8th day i missed my period and she doesnt give me any pregnancy test either urine or blood test , instead she told me not to have sex for 10 days before she going to undergo me into another test . I WONDER WHY , does having sex affects the HCG level of a woman , or anything . cos im thinking maybe thats why i cant have a positive result , cos me and my bf are sexually active ! 8 hours ago --- I NEVER USE PILL BEFORE , ANDI USE TO HAVE MY PERIOD EVERY MONTH , I WAS IRREGULAR BEFORE , LIKE I CAN BE 10 DAYS LATE OR HAVE MY PERIOD SOONER THAN EXPECTED .. FOR THE LAST 4 MONTHS MY PERIOD IS LIKE A CLOCKWORK , 30 DAYS CYCLE TO BE EXACT .. for the last 4 months i get my period morning the day i expected it .. and its my first time to be this late . thanks .

    You can have a false pregnancy, which is when you believe you are pregnant or have such a desire to be pregnant that you mentally psyche out your body's natural biology and will have symptoms even though you're not pregnant. I had this happen after my miscarriage - I would skip my period until I was able to convince myself that the pregnancy test was right and then I would get my period. First, make an appointment with your gynecologist to be evaluated for sudden missed and irregular periods as it could be a health condition or could be pregnancy and you need to more accurate test done. Then, go off of what the doctor says.

My periods were becoming very irregular & I would often think I was pregnant. & turn out not. I have been struggling for a while trying to have another baby. Now after lots of test, my doc says I just havent been ovulating.. He gave me pills, so im hoping they work! So, you should try your hardest to get to dr!

I AM NOT A DOCTOR.....AND WE GOT THE SAME ISSUE WITH MY WIFE......WE HAVE 9 MONTH OLD BABY GIRL NOW....OUR HPT RESULTS WERE NEGATIVE TILL HER 50 TH DAY .....AND 51 TH DAY IT CAME VERY MUCH SLIGHTLY POSITIVE(VERY THIN LINE ...IT WAS VISIBLE ONLY UNDER THE LIGHT)...AND AFTER THAT LINE BECAME DARKER AND 56 TH DAY IT WAS FULL DARK....THIS IS UOR STORY AND WE HAVE 9 MONTH OLD BABY GIRL NOW.. MOREOVER U MUST DO A SCAN TO CONFORM YOUR PREGNANCY...TO CONCLUDE THAT U R NOT HAVING MEDICAL ISSUES

Having sex will not effect your hcg level. Not sure why your doctor told you not to have sex. Some women find it difficult to get a positive urine test when they are pregnant. The best thing to do would be to see a doctor for a blood test. I know it is expensive, but if you can't afford to see a doctor, why do you think you are ready to have a baby? I would just make sure that you are eating healthy and taking prenatal vitamins. Either your period will eventually come or a baby will. Take care of yourself in case it is a baby.
