Anyone has a late period because of progesterone?

How long until I get my period after taking Provera...?

  • Has anyone ever taken progesterone (provera) to "jump-start" their period when trying to have a baby? I have not been getting my period for quite sometime and therefore am not ovulating. All of my blood tests came back normal. My doctor put me on progesterone for 5 days (10mg) to start my period and then Clomid to take days 5-9 of my cycle to help me ovulate. I finished the progesterone pills on tues. morning and it is now Friday. How long after I finished the five days worth of pills should I expect to start my period? I am starting to get really worried...should I be yet?

  • Answer:

it takes 7 to 10 days

I'm right there with you. I have finished my provera and waiting for AF to arrive. We will be starting Femara when AF arrives. I have PCOS and my RE said that this works better for PCOS patients! I hope you get your miracle soon!

It can take as much as 2 weeks after you take your last pill. I have taken it before but I took it for 10 days and not 5. I think I also took a stronger mg than you did. If you have a choice between the pills or the shot I recommend you take the shot instead as you will only have to wait 2 weeks after the shot. It works better! Good luck!!!

I've taken Provera twice and both times I've gotten my period 2 days after the last doseage!
