Does NYC medicaid pay for International birth?

Getting medicaid for pregnancy problem?

  • Hi, so a couple weeks ago i found out i was pregnant =). And i was told about wick and medicaid to help pay for stuff. I went to the health department and took a pregnancy test so they would give me the proof of pregnancy paper and i could go get medicaid with it. They also gave me a list of things i will need to get it like birth certificate, ss card, etc. Also the paper said i needed proof of residency and a paystub from where i work. Since i don't have a job atm i asked them what do i bring then? They said my boyfriends paystub would be ok because i live with him. Then i told them that i didn't have any bills or anything in my name to prove where i lived and they said that something in my boyfriend's name would be fine too. And thats where the problem is because he doesn't have any bills in his name either to prove residency because at the moment we live with his parents. I told them this and they said then the only way to prove where i live is if i bring my boyfriend's pay stub and his mom and dad's pay stub with me. But if i did that and they put all that income together i wouldn't qualify for medicaid. We pay rent to his parents every week and we buy our own food and i told them that his parents don't support us but they still said that was the only way. And there is no way off of my boyfriend's income that we could pay for everything so i'm confused at what i'm supposed to do. I was thinking the other day what if we got a reciept from his parents everytime we pay rent proving that we do live there? Would that work? Also my boyfriend's pay stub has our address on it and he has an ID with our address. Why wouldn't that be enough? Very confused....any suggestions?

  • Answer:

have his parents wright something saying that you pay to stay there tech you are paying rent. however i suggest you get a Job cause hun babys arnt cheep! if ur bf dont make enought to get ya'lls own place how the heck to you expect to raise a child? they cost thousands a year the first few months. you should really just go up there and talk to them about it first if his parents voucher saying you pay rent dont work. sit down and talk to them tell them everything you just posted on here

Well here is an idea, if you don't have a job or a place to call your own home, why are you having kids in the first place! You shouldn't be having kids if the only way to support them is going to be threw government and state handouts.

I'm not in the US, but here's how it works in Canada. If you pay rent to your parents for living in their home, they should be reporting that as income on their taxes. My guess is they are not reporting your rent money as income, therefore they will not be willing to give you a receipt for it (because they will get audited and will owe back taxes), and it will look like you live at home and your parents are supporting you (and your child) and you probably won't qualify for WIC and medicaid. Its time for BOTH of you to get a job ASAP. His parents may not be willing to pay for your baby, and you can't raise a baby living on the streets, that is NOT fair to the poor little thing.

Yes, just get a letter from his parents stating what rent you pay and how often to prove your household is you and BF only, and you are not part of parents household. Then you can qualify if BF's salary and your salary is not too high. You shouldn't be getting pregnant when you have no money and no place to live and have to get government welfare. I just dont agree with that way of living.
