Does anyone have a good story about Clomid?

Does anyone out there have a success story about falling pregnant whilst taking clomid?

  • I have just finished my first cycle of clomid yesterday. I took them days 2-6 of my cycle. The side effects on day 1 were horrific-I was like a mad woman who couldn't stop crying-but seemed to subside after that (apart from the hot flushes at night). My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 18 months with no joy. Tests over the last 6 months have highlighted that I have polysistic ovaries (not full PCOS). I have also undergone a hycosy test and this showed that although my tubes were not blocked I do have a slight swelling in my womb where one of my tubes joins. My husband has also undergone tests and has a VERY high sperm count and although they are not particularly good quality the consultant was not worried due to the volume! I had an abortion 10 years ago and my husband has an 8 year old daughter from a previous relationship so we are going crazy as to why things are not happening for us! Does anyone have any success stories about becoming pregnant on clomid? Thanks xxx

  • Answer:

I tried for nearly 8 years before I was finally blessed with my daughter. I kept going to my GP who kept saying "you're young, it will happen". But at 28, and my husband being 46 at the time, I wanted it to happen sooner rather than later, as I wanted my husband to enjoy his child before he was being fitted up for a zimmer frame! I felt sad and depressed all the time...everyone around me seemed to fall pregnant just by walking past another bloke! I found it so hard to be happy for other peoples good news! It wasn't until I almost had a right tantrum at the Gp that I finally got referred to a fertility specialist. I had the lap/dye studies, loads of blood tests etc, but although they found Grade2 endometrosis they said it was not conclusive that it was causing my problems. My husbands SA came back fine, so we went onto Clomid. We conceived on our 5th month, but sadly I miscarried. I then ignored the drs request of not taking the clomid for a few months, and carried on taking it. The result on my decision is sleeping soundly upstairs right now! All I can suggest is joining a forum for other women in the same boat. I used the "fertility tricks and treatment" board on the babycentre website. The women on there have all been trying for ages, so can pick you up on your bad days (there's nothing worse than taking comfort from someone who doesn't have a clue how you really feel!). They also have a "clomid" forum I hope your wish comes true.
