Any women taking Glucophage or Metformin for conditions causing infertility?
-
I just started taking Metformin for Insulin resistance (which caused my cycles to stop) I have had 1 regular cycle since I satrted taking it 1 month ago. Id love to hear your stories. How long did it take you to concieve while on the medication, complications, other things that may help in combination with the medicine...My husband and I are working on baby #2...it took us 4 years to get pregnant with my son, on no meds at that time. Do you think my outlook is a good one? All responses appreciated!

Answer:
Hi yes i do take glucophage for p.c.o.d,which is poly cystic ovarian disease. Its used to lower the insulin levels, cause with this my insulin runs very high.Ive been on glucophage for 3 years it has helped me loose weight have regular periods and after 9 years of never knowing what was wrong with me.I finally got diagnosed and I'm being treated with the drug and it took me a year and i was pregnant. If your insulin levels are 2 high no you will not ovulate so you cant get pregnant so glucophage was a miracle to me and with out i would of never gotten pregnant.Watch your weight ,eat low carbs, take your glucophage daily it may be u just need your dose upped like I'm on 1000 milligrams a day some women need 1500 or even 2000 mill a day so maybe you just need higher doses and you must watch your weight excess weight causes higher doses of insulin.i hope i helped good luck

I have been on Metformin for 4 years, I was diagnosed with PCOS 5 years ago and we have been trying for a baby for 6 years...They have increased my dosage to 1500, but I havent seen any results.. I have been on clomid as well with 1 (IUI) done and the Metformin still has not helped...Everyone is different though...I pray everyday for a miracle and I hope that u get ur second miracle as well! Take Care!

met is a good medicine. I just started my second round of met and clomid. Met actually helps alot and i only take it b/c i have PCOS and for a booster. IT helped me a little but every person is different. I am taking 500mg 3 times a day. So, i am taking alot but finally this month the meds are working and my follicles are big enough. Just hang in there i know what you are going through. Good luck and baby dust your way!!!
