How long does EWCM last?

How many days of EWCM do you get in a cycle?

  • Hi Ladies, I am currently on CD10 and I have had EWCM for 2 days - I usually have about a week of EWCM. Is this a problem? My cycles are from 26-30 days. How many days of EWCM do you get in each cycle? Thanks Ladies! xxx

  • Answer:

I know that 1-5 days is the normal amount of time women experience EWCM, and some women don't experience it at all. For me, EWCM tends to last 3-4 days. Is it truely EWCM you're experiencing for seven days? If is it more like transitional/watery etc for the first few days? Or could it potentially be arousal fluid/sex fluids? (I know you know what you're doing and this probably isnt the case, but I'm covering all bases here). See EWCM is caused by a surge in estrogen, which normally proceeds ovulation by a couple days. It shouldnt proceed ovulation by a week regularly (some cycles your body might try to ovulation fail, and try again, resulting is a longer period of ewcm). Now some women have far more cm than others, and are far more sensitive to rises in estrogen, and their bodies will react accordingly. Do you chart yourself? If so post your cycle or email it to me, it would be interesting to see. If it is really FULL on EWCM for 7 straight days, I would recommend asking a fertility doctor about it quickly, just to see if it's your body's natural way, and not a prolonged estrogen surge that can cause issues. Edit - Ok, having creamy for a few days, then EWCM for 4-5 is completely normal. And it's also normal to get a positive OPK two days before the EWCM ends, since LH surges 12-48 hours before ovulation, and EWCM doesnt end until after ovulation. So with that new info, I would say you sound perfectly within all normal ranges!

good question hun, I think i get about 2-3 days of actual EWCM. Can be a bit creamy, which is why I started using pre-seed. Good luck hun, get BD'ing! :) xx

Some cycles I never got any EWCM, but generally I would get it for 1-2 days at the most. I don't think its a problem if yours lasts longer, but it just might make it harder for you to pinpoint your ovulation day. You'll just have to BD every day for the whole week! x By the way, for anyone who doesn't know... CD = cycle day EWCM = egg white cervical mucus. AF = Aunt Flo (period) CM = Cervical Mucus HPT = home pregnancy test BFN = big fat negative BFP = big fat positive FMU = first morning urine BD = baby dance (sex)

Hi I don't get any EWCM at all, so I use pre-seed now. I would say any length of EGCM is normal (and 7 days makes you very luck), and once it changes you have probably Ovulated. Do you also chart your temperature or use OPK's? I find they help pin point the exact day of Ov, including checking my CM and cervix. Good luck

I usually only get 1-2days of EWCM. Usually when I hit my fertile window, it's watery.

anywhere from 2 to 5. i have a little for a day or two then a lot for 1 or 2 days. so 3 or 4 for me. preseed mimics ewcm though so if you use that accross o time then you dont need to think of ewcm too much. worked for us with all our conceptions. good luck hun you really deserve your bfp .... xxx

It is a personal thing but for most women an abundant amount will be there for a day or two at most. You then may see patches of ewcm before and again after that. Use preseed. :-) Good luck.
