My 2 1/2 year old will be potty trained for a month when we leave for vacation.?

We are driving from Florida to Texas. Should I put her in a pull-up for the ride or just plan to stop more often than we normally would?

Answer:
1.)stop more often 2.)purchase a piddle pad or two from One Step Ahead catalog or on line so accidents won't soak your one & only car seat cover(learned from experience eeewwww!) 3.)have a potty chair with you that you can use if you must pull over & there is no bathroom 4.) Limit drinks before & during trip (this is one I've been told but really unable to do because I feel if a child is thirsty enough to ask for a drink it is unhealthy to withhold it) 5.) be prepared that your trip make take up to an hour or more longer than usual Good Luck

Stop more often. You don't want to get her back into the diaper habit.

It depends, is she potty trained for bedtime? If she still wets in her sleep I suggest training pants...try the cotton ones with a plastic liner, they are more like real underpants...pull ups may make her feel like a baby again and she may revert.

pull ups just in case you dont make it in time to stop at a restroom b/c on those long trips you dont know when the next restroom will be available

Put her in a pull-up, and stop more than normal! Just because you put her in a pull-up will not mean she will stop peeing, so you will still have 2 stop more than normal!

Based on the experience my friend is going through with her three year old, I'd use pull ups. Your daughter may fall asleep in the car and not know she needs to go. In addition, the traveling is a distraction, your daughter may forget she needs to go. And if she does know she needs to go, you may not be able to get to a bathroom in time. Good luck.. I wish you a happy and "dry" vacation!

it won't be completely potty trained. there will be accidents to be had. make frequent stops.

As a mom of three i would put on the pull up and make a couple of rest stops. That way if she has an accident it will be an easy clean up.

Stop more often - do not encourage her to 'go' in a pull up or other diaper, that will send you back to square one and make it very difficult to get her back on track. Accidents may happen, but do not go backwards.

pull ups and ask her often. rest stops tend to be few and far between,. my son is four and when we travel. just in case. remember shes little and might not remember and you dont want peed clothes in the car in this heat nor do you want a smelly wet carseat. use pull ups better safe than sorry
