Toddler scared of shower?
-
my 20 month old son is scared to have a shower. He has been in about 5 times and it only last a minute as he gets terrified and screams. He doesnt care about water going on his head or having a bath, he will even walk in shower when its off. How can i get him to understand thats its not that bad to have a shower? its hard as he cant talk much but he wont go in even if someone is already in there.

So don't give him a shower! Give him a bath instead.

My toddler is exactly the same. It doesn't matter if someone is in the shower with him, he goes off his nut when the water is on. A lot of kids are scared of the shower; it's normal. Don't forget that all kids are different; some don't mind the shower at all. The worse thing you can do is force him to have a shower when he clearly doesn't want to; this will only aggravate him and make things worse. Keep giving him baths. He will let you know in time when he is ready to have a shower.

I was afraid of showers and my dad decided "no daughter of mine is going to be afraid of the shower". So he took me in there and held me there for I've heard almost 30 minutes. I didn't take another shower until I was 12. It could just be the noise, there's no way to tell. But forcing the issue probably isn't going to get the results you want. Let him take bathes, its no the end of the world.

Give him a bath instead. My daughter was terrified of the shower. Now she is 2 and is terrified of the bath, and has started taking showers. Asl ong as he is still getting clean somehow, follow his lead.

When my children were about that age they were also afraid of them so I got in the shower with her and held her. Also I talked to her in the shower....see Emily it is like the sprinkler, but warmer.. She eventually started to like it!

He's not even two yet. He's too young for a shower. If he is afraid, he probably isn't ready. Just give him baths.

I would just opt to give him a bath
