Is flavored water still a good solvent?

Is flavored water as good as regular water?

  • I have a 23 month old that refuses regular water, we tried putting ice in the cup to make "noisy" water, but to no avail, he just takes a sip and hands it back to us. So we thought that perhaps if we took flavored water, let him drink that and then slowly dilute it with regular water until it is just plain water if that would work. We live in Arizona and today it was 100 degrees and of course he is outside with his brothers playing hard. I have never drank flavored water, and thought that perhaps it might be like cool aid, where when the flavors and sugars are added, it no longer has the benefits of water. Thanks for your input.

  • Answer:

Try vitamin water. It also contains different nutrients that would be good for him.

why dont you try adding food coloring to his/her water. It's safe and your child will enjoy drinking different colored waters all the time. I use it with water for my son and also in his rice, mashed potatoes..etc.

I wouldn't give it to the baby, It would put him into a bad habit that would take a lot of time to break. Also, all of the added sugar could send his body into a dangerous place. Give him water, it will set a good example for later on in life.

Try Propel. It's not a bunch of sugar and has no caffeine. Propel has added stuff to keep you hydrated, and it shouldn't hurt him at all. Talk to your doctor first.

I love this stuff. Although I hate buying it because I always feel a little gay buying a fruit drink. But yeah, they are really good.

well, personally my little 1-year-old girl, Mattie, loves Aquafina's Sparkling Water. No sugar, no artificial sweetners, not a lot of calories (10) and trust me; If my little girl likes this, (she's VERY picky) than I assure you that yours will!

water is cheapest, however when it comes to the health of your kids you'll do whatever you have to, so i would try giving them gatorade. You can buy a liter of it at wal-mart for $1 and some change. If he likes it, try to dilute it so it lasts longer. Gatorade has electrolytes which will help him stay hydrated all summer. if that won't work maybe allowing him to help pour the flavoring in will be exciting for him and he might enjoy the water more. Good luck.
