Should I be concerned with my 4-year-olds progress?

Concerned for my 13month olds progress..?

  • Just wondering how my 13month old girl is doing compared to others? Everyone always assumes shes walking and talking but shes not yet. She says mum, dad, ta, bye, hi, she waves and says these things in context but that is all she is doing. Im now worried that she isnt doing more because everyone always assumes she is....

  • Answer:

If she's walking before 15 months, then that's normal. If she's not by then, I would have her seen by a doctor just to rule things out. If she's not walking by 18 months, there's a problem. As to the talking, she sounds typical. My daughter is 16 months old and doesn't say much beyond what you describe, however, she understands a lot. My nephew is about the same age and he has a large vocab for his age. He can say his brother's names, Adam and Cole, he says coffee, mama, dada, grandpa, grandma, auntie, uncle, among other things. Really, at this point, she sounds like she is on target. I wouldn't worry.
