My son turns one next month! yay! I'm planning his bday party and need help though...?
-
it was only supposed too be close family where as i wouldn't need to worry about games, food, ect. since then a few more people have signed up to come and they have children. My son will be one. there will be a child who is like 15 months, 3 older kids( dunno their ages) and an almost 4 year old. Is it necessary to play games?? If yes, then what kind would be appropriate?? Also, am i supposed to get THEM party favors/gifts?? Cause i didn't plan on getting any for this bday. I do have food to serve and drinks. Thinking of bringing in music (whats a good party bday cd??) Will also have balloons and bubbles. I had thought this would be entertainment enough. Im not really sure what i am doing with the bday party, like what i am supposed to do so any advice would be great. Had just planned to let them play with balloons, eat, sing, eat cake, open gifts, go home...

The things you're thinking of are more appropriate for 3 years and up. At the ripe old age of one, just having friends over to play with is enough. Anything you do for decorations/party favors/cake/gifts is for the adults....these kids are just mobile babies. Your kidlet's too little for a real party - the best part of his day is chewing on his toes and playing in the kitchen cabinets. Best bet? Invite everyone to the local park or indoor play place, schedule a party for 10am-noon (right before naptime). Big kids can play at their level, little kids can play at theirs. Let them have fun, provide healthy snacks (parents will thank you), send the kids home tired so parents can rest. And once your child knows you go "all out" for birthdays, you're going to have to top it year after year. Don't go crazy now or you'll be spending $5,000 on a 5 year old's party. Good luck!

Your little guy wont know whats going on except the excitement of a lot of happy motion. ( laughing, playing, hugging, CAKE!!!!!. He wont know what is going on so he wont miss out. Plane on games the other kids like. Movies, hide a seak ( all time favorite among young kids ) etc. Good luck

Since the birthday boy will only be one year old save your time and your money until next year when he will at least have an idea of whats going on.

if you have enough space and money hire a bouncy castle and the bigger kids can play on that... it will wear them out and provide enough entertainment... only problem being that they are expensive... personally based on the fact that the party is for your son i wouldnt be too concerned about entertaining the older kids and i dont think their parents will expect it either... i know it sounds awful but i would also suggest putting away your babys favourite toys because older kids can break babies toys... if you really want to do something for the older kids then get some big pieces of paper and crayons and set the kids up with those.... most of all spoil your little man rotten and have a great day!

keep it short and simple, he wont remember it and you dont want him to get overwhelmed, have a few games and crafts to set up that they can do without adult help to keep the other kids busy, the bubbles will provide a lot of entertainment, theyll understand if you dont give party favors, when i was little and went to a party, i seriously didnt even think about get a favor until it was handed to me, have kid appropriate music on, but since the majority of the guest are adults, nothing thats going to drive them insane, no one over the age of 5 wants to listen to kids bop for an hour straight, my 4 year old cousins party had the radio edited version of normal songs playing so the adults could enjoy the music without the kids picking up on any bad language
