Answer:
Yes it is a good meal, but make sure that they are not allergic to nuts before you feed them. If you or anyone in your child's family has a food allergy or allergic type disorder (like asthma or eczema) or if your child has had a food allergy in the past, then you should wait to introduce peanuts and peanut butter. How long? According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, you should wait until your child is 3 years old. In addition, mothers with any history of a peanut allergy in the family should avoid peanuts and peanut butter in the third trimester of pregnancy and for as long as they are nursing their children. If there is none of the above in you or your child's history, however, then peanut butter can be a healthy addition to the diet even before your child turns 1 year old. Just be sure to avoid giving big spoonfuls of peanut butter and never give children under 3 years of age whole peanuts because these pose a choking hazard. With all that said, be aware that a peanut allergy can be severe, lifelong and potentially deadly. Look for signs of an allergic reaction such as: hives difficulty breathing or asthma symptoms swelling of the mouth or throat vomiting or diarrhea loss of consciousness These signs can appear in just minutes or they make take hours, so be watchful during this time and do not wait to call 9-1-1 or your health care provider. Call immediately! If you are concerned about your child having a peanut allergy, the only real way to avoid the danger is to avoid peanuts and peanut butter altogether. But be aware that for the majority of children, there is no danger.

You have to serve 2 TABLESPOONS of peanut butter for it to be a full serving of protein for a 3-4 year old. It is great for a snack because of the grains. 1/2 slice of bread is a full grain serving for this age group.

healthy because of the protien but maybe you should add in some banana with it or make sure you give veggies before and after. It's perfectly fine to feed them peanut butter sandwiches as long as that's not all they are getting all the time! :) Good to hear you are worried about their nutrition! KEEP UP THE GOOD MOTHERING!

Yes that is a very healthy snack!!! It is also ok for a meal paired with some fruit and chips or veggies!
Oh me oh my...♥
yes, peanut butter is healthy. if you use whole wheat bread and add some banana slices it's even healthier.

Sure. The bread is a grain, the peanut butter contains protein and the jelly could be considered a fruit (altho probably a stretch since I'm sure it has lots of sugar). Kids have been eating PB&J for years with no major damage. Add a little yogurt or fruit on the side for a healthy addition and let 'em go at it!

Very healthy for your kids.

I would add that if you are worried about too much sodium, sugar, and preservatives, they have some organic peanut butter on the market that's even healthier. You should read the labels on the jars at the supermarket to see which brand or brands are healthier. Also, on the sandwiches, what type of bread to you use? Wheat or grain bread is better than white. My stepsister uses organic peanut butter, but my kids won't eat it. However, we do eat honey wheat bread in our house. A compromise, can't get them to eat whole wheat.

Peanut butter supposedly contains ingredients that are good for kids. I mean at least it's better than a hamburger or pizza.
