What is up with sesame street?

Sesame street what are we thinking?

  • ok so i just started watching sesame street with my 14 month old son and i am disgusted with it. first off cookie monster doesnt eat cookies anymore instead he eats the letter of the day. in which i did some research and the reason is because parents complanied that cookie monster eating cookies has a bad influince on kids and second off now they are having a spanish word of the day. which made me really mad because i dont need my son learning spanish at 14 months lol and the fact that it should be in spanish just to support the mexicans who cant speak engilish really gets me mad i am not racist its just that i think that americans should have a few things that doesnt involve spanish these days i grew up on sesame street and now i feel as though parents have ruiend it and made it into something that is just rediculous does anyone agree with me

Everyone is trying to be politically correct nowadays. Its not merry christmas anymore, its happy holidays. I'm not sure about the Spanish thing. I'm still hoping that it is just to teach kids another language, rather than because of the influx of immigrants to the country.

Well, considering that you cannot even spell the word ENGLISH right makes me wonder if it is actually your first language. Half the words in your question are spelled wrong. You need to try checking your spelling before entering your question.

i totally disagree....and if your not trying to be racist your not doing a very good job at it! spanish is my second language and proud of it. knowing another language is always an advantage. if someone is talking about your kid hed undestand. and in the future its always a good thing. i suggest if it pisses you off stop watching it with him!

I agree. If your kid is getting fat, stop feeding him the cookies, he's not the one going out and buying them and feeding himself. That's retarded. But as long as it is still teaching your baby the ABC's and 123's, it's still a good show to watch and learn.

I won't allow my kids to watch Sesame Street anymore. It isn't what it used to be! And go ahead with giving me the thumbs down, but I am not a fan of pushing spanish on everyone.

I see your point

The cookie thing is a little ridiculous because a kid within the age to be watching sesame street doesn't even ever have to touch a cookie. but the Spanish thing, it's good for children to learn a second language, especially in the world we live in know, you have to accept the fact that there will be people that speak other languages around us forever.

♥ Im just saying..

i think is good they teach them good things, and in my opinion if they learn spanish is better for there future, so they can get a better job and is better if they start early, but i guess u r mad because they didnt teach u n othing but english when u were young.

While I agree with you about english being the first language, you are actually hurting your child but not educating them to other cultures and language. While it is a hard fact to face but it is fact that this upcoming generation will be lost whithout knowing more than 1 language. I dont care where you live in the world, you must know two languages in order to succeed in life. I actually started letting my kids listen to the Telemundo station to get a headstart on learning because the young ages is the age they learn the best. As far as the cookies go, I agree with that, that is dumb. My kids actually have no interest in it, so I am actually out of the loop with it.

I agree about the cookie thing. Parents have control over what their kid eats not the television. SO what if he wants a cookie have parents ever heard of the word know. The spanish thing I dont agree with. Children who speak more than one language fluently are proven to do better in school and have a higher IQ. My daughter is 11 months old and has a vocabulary of 20 words and knows what about 50 mean in sign language, french and spanish. My nephew was the same way when he was a baby and now he is in kindergarden and is the smartest in his grade out of 215 other kindergardeners and their classes. I dont rely on TV or Sesame Street for my daughter to learn her numbers or ABCs I teach her them myself.
