Good transition year ideas?

Moving my 2 year old into a bigger bed by herself, any ideas on easy transition?

  • Answer:

How about you just move her? I know everyone is going to say that I'm a horrible mother but we just told our children when it was time to move into their new bed, laid them down in it that night and never made a big deal out of it. They know that mommy and daddy sleep in a big bed so they weren't afraid of the bed. It worked for all three of my children. Well, my youngest still sleeps in the crib but if he sleeps at my mom's he sleeps in a toddler bed. And when my little brother sleeps over he sleeps in the crib and my son sleeps in a toddler bed.

lay with her untill she goes to sleep. and slowly work it up till shes comfortable by herself. paly music for her, leave a night light, give her an oversized bear or stuffed animal to make her feel safe. make sure there isnt anything in the room that can be scarey in the dark. leave the door open witha night light in the hall also. give her a walkie talkie that she can call you on (my daughter had barbie walkie talkies) she used to talk to me on her "hawkie twacki" lol. thats what i did. do it slow and pateintly

her favorite toy or blankie. also, when i moved my son to his "bed", i kept telling him weeks in advance that he's going to be my big boy and start sleeping in his bed in a month and would have a countdown. by the time to mov beds came, he was so hyped about it, he slept with no problem.

when i moved my son in a room beside ours and bigger bed.I would lay beside him and read to him or watch learning show on TV until he fall asleep. Also i have night lite in there and his room is done in Thomas the train because he loves that show i think that's one thing he does like about staying in his room. After he falls asleep i get up and he sleeps though the night just gets up to early.

How exciting for her!! Turn it into a very special occasion! Let her pick a special dinner, let her help "set the bed" (my daughter's words for making up a bed) and "decorate it with blankets and toys. Get her invloved as much as possible, and be sure to put a rail up or pillows on the floor just in case she's worried about falling out. Worked great with my little girl.

You definately know it's time when she crawls out of the crib by herself. My son is getting his own toddler bed because of this. Make sure your girl has her favorite stuffed animals with her so that she still feels like it's her bed.

Tell her she is a big girl now. . Give her something special to sleep with. If she is scared have a small night lite in her room. Keep the door open and tell her you to call anytime. Good Luck Pem

Maybe U put her to sleep first and then put her n da bed or tell her u goin to stay by her side until she sleeps and give her teddy bear or something

I would suggest you get her involved in the process. If you can let her help you pick out the bed, better; or, for that matter, just tell her and build up the anticipation of getting the bed made. If you are planning on buying new bedding have her help pick it out, and build it up. Ask her "are your ready for your big bed," and say, "this is going to be so great" etc. Just ham it up for her. Hopefully she will just be so excited about the new and jump right in! Best! Kim
