How to have a good Halloween party?

How do i pull a halloween party in a german kindergarden?

  • hello everybody, today i was asked by the kindergarden teacher to help with the halloween party in a german kindergarden. do you have any ideas on how to pull one off? also they asked me to make a presentation for the kids (age 3 - 6). i was thinking about telling a little about where halloween came from and how it is celebrated in the us. also i thought about maybe reading a childrens book about halloween, i would translate it in german (any suggestions?), maybe some songs i could play on a cdplayer (also any suggestions on halloween music or kids?). how do you decorate in your kindergarden, do you play any specific games. and also what tricks are there, which are not putting bad ideas into kids heads:-) how do kindergardens celebrate it in the us. i hope you guys can help me out here. i would really appreciate it. thanks

What fun! My sister spent a semester as an exchange in Australia, and when her exchange came here it was during Halloween -- we cracked up at her perspective of Halloween in America! Bobbing for apples -- a bin of water with apples, and you have to dunk your face in and bite the apple to retrieve it. for little kids, just doing a few inches of water and the apples are more sitting in the water gives them the idea. Tricks -- rearrange the teachers desk, move the kids things from their bins to another kids bins, change the calendar to January. Creating mischief can introduce them to the concepts of tricking without creating mayhem. Pumpkins -- carving at this age is out of the question, but decorating pumpkins with stickers, markers, etc. is loads of fun Stamping -- cut an apple in half, and use an ink pad to make prints. Use the prints on blank cards and decorate for hallowen cards for the class to use. Felt board -- cut out felt shapes that 'represent' Halloween, like bats, witches, pumpkins, etc. and talk about why these symbols are associated with Halloween (will require a little internet research) Language games -- talk about words like spooky, scary, moonlit, creaky, eerie, etc. These are words they may not completely get but have enough experience and vocabulary to be able to understand. Rhyme words, talk about opposites, etc. Have a great time!!!
