Has anyone ever developed gallstones after pregnancy?
-
I believe I have developed gallstones either during pregnancy or just recently.. I go to the Dr. this week but I was wondering if any other Mom has had problems with these? I just recenty lost all my baby weight in the last 3 months, about 30 lbs... I also have a family history of gallbladder issues in my family, both my mom and gramma had theres out... I have a dull, ache of a pain up under my right rib and in my back. I also get nausea(especially after eating) I have a little shortness of breath as well.. I know all of these are symptoms of gallstones.Has anyone had this happen to them or have any advice as far as diet or easing the pain until my Dr. Appt... It;s very uncomfortable but I'm told this is common, has anyone else had these symptoms?

Answer:
Yes, I had a baby in 1986, and in 1987 I had my gall bladder removed due to gallstones. That was back when they had to make a huge incision. Now you just get three holes and the doc can usually vacuum it right out. I also have a family history. No advise on easing the pain, except avoid greasy foods.

after having my 1st child i got gallstones, my pain was worse than giving birth, I found out i have stones in my gallbladder and liver ducts which had to be removed, then I had to have my gallbladder removed. After all of this you should stay away from greasy and spicy foods, also alcohol. because you may still have the pain a while. it sucks and it was scary but eveything works out in the end

My sister did, as did a good friend of mine. It's not uncommon I understand.

My good friend had this. She had to eat very boring bland food til she got it removed.

I didn't have it happen to me but some friends and my some cousins had this happen. I dunno so much about a diet until you see the doctor though. I would probably take something for the pain though. Some Tylenol or Motrin..you can alternate these 2 every 4hrs.

I can't get pregnant, but had a lathroscopic proceedure done to remove my gall bladder about a year ago. It was preceeded by severe pain on the upper right side - above my stomach. It hit me when we were vacationing, I couldn't sleep, couldn't lay down, couldn't stand up... it was simply horrible. Enter - liquid vicodin...ahhh... Had the gall bladder taken out, haven't looked back...
