3 year old son sleep walking?

  • My 3 year old son has started sleep walking during the night, he does very strange things while sleep walking that we're becoming quite worried. We've found him riding his rocking horse, standing looking out of the window, standing on his bed facing wall, coming into our room talking to himself and also he has alot of toys in the corner of his room (including 2 large toy boxes) and somehow he managed to climb over all the toys and stand in the corner of the room. He's always had a routine at bedtime and used to sleep quite well. Any advise?

    this may be something that he'll do for the rest of his life. put a lock on all exterior doors in an area that he can't reach & relax. gently walk him back to bed, if you notice. many of us have survived decades as sleepwalkers, but give our families lotsa fun times in the middle of the night. keep him more active during the day, avoid stimulation before bed (like TV, processed foods, & caffeine), and leave the sound soother on all night long. install black out blinds in his bedroom.

You should watch that, if you can. It is about a three-year old sleepwalker who was experiencing Eidetic imagery. It's apparently more common in children (they're usually awake while they're doing it but seem asleep) and sounds like what you're son was doing. This girl would act out the things she was imagining in a kind of dream-state. They solved it by putting their child in her own bed and basically getting her into a routine that way.

Personally, this would freak me out! I would scream if i saw this! Ask your doctor because most children that sleep walk have a certain thing they do or path they take each time.

Get him involved in activities in the day time to tire him out so he will be to drained to move.
