What are your Daycare Favorites?

Concerned about daycare , other opinions please ?

  • Hi all , This may be a little long please bare with me , I have had my daughter in daycare since she was 18 months she’s now 3 . everything was fine until the owner opened another daycare , and I got hired as an assistant . it was alright until a new admistrator/director was hired .. like I said I work there now and I’ve worked with this lady , She’s RUDE and Disrespectful to me when I work ..she yells at kids two inches from there faces , she'll pull kids away from things by there arms with such force that they fall , she plays favorites with a baby there I'm not predjec or anything she’s Spanish and this child is as well , when this child cries she runs over and grabs her and pays attention to her , if another child cries she yells at them to be Quite that they will survive !!! It makes me wonder what she’s doing with my child . I've told the owner about this and she says well the Rudeness is just her cultural thing , that she doesn’t mean to be rude it's just the way she is . i've told her about eveything and she wont belive me , she thinks this woman is WONDERFULL !! i dont get it ! I want to pull my kid because of this . I also want to report her but i dont know how my boss won't belive me so who do i contact Then at the other daycare where the owner is the director . when I work there as an assistant I’m left alone with 7 kids ages 2-4 while she takes 2 infants upstairs to "work" on her computer .. she lets the kids scream and props them up with bottles (witch I know is agents the law ) and wants them to be Quite n not disturbed her "work" she’s left me alone to run to the bank with 10 kids 5 months of age to 4 years while the older kids nap saying it's ok cuz she’s only gone for a little while .. I’m an assistant and I’m only licensed for 6 kids .. Is it Illegal for her to leave me with 7 if she’s upstairs ? I'm starting to get fed up with it , I believe it's unfair business practice to leave an assasint with more kids they they should have ? can I call the licensing board and leave a complaint without giving my name ? can anyone give me advice on what to do ? if u need more details I’ll be happy to provide .

  • Answer:

Let me start by saying that it is not a cultural thing at all. My FIL is hispanic, we have visited Mexico to see his family multiple times and they are nothing but loving and warm to their children, His sister is to the point where everyone thinks her child needs some discipline because she never yells! That lasy to me, would be considered verbally abusive. If you work there, record her with a tape recorder, they cost about $20. Report her to the licensing board also. The point of those laws is to make sure children are safe, and since she isn't following those laws, then morally, you need to say something. Be prepared to find a new job though, your boss probably will not be happy with you. Good Luck EDIT: Keep a diary with every single detail about what is going on. Date, time, who is involved, what was said, where it happened. Make sure you tell the other childrens parents what is going on, you would want to know and so would they. Here is what you can do: File a BBB complaint make it annoynimous, contact licensing board, contact CPS, contact the police. What she is doing is considered negliect. It is illegal and she can spend time in jail for it (only a few days, but still, it's the principle) She will also get her license taken from her. What state are you in?? YES, complaints can be made annonymously. It happens all the time. Just insist on keeping your name private. They will probably need your name for their records, but make it clear that you want no one knowing it was you. When I had to go to houses for CPS complaints, you receive a piece of paper and it has notes on it whether you are allowed to say the name on who reported or not. We are very careful with that. Liability reasons and all, lol.

you should report this to human rights commissions and workforce policies.. doesnt sound like a very happy daycare. Why is that lady even yelling at the kids for? they shouldnt be doing that. If they were trained right, they should know that they should talk to the child rather than yell. It's also wrong for her to leave you with more children than your entitled to care for at once. there is definitley some workplace problems with this daycare and caring for the children as well. You should report everything, put yours and your daughters notice in, and start looking for a better daycare. I am very happy with my son's daycare.

Well I would pull my daughter for sure. But I would quit too. If something happens and you are left alone with 7 kids and you are only legally allowed 6, than if something happens, you are the one that will get in trouble. The other person may too, but you will be the one that would get the worst of it for allowing yourself to do something illegal. This is wrong of them and I would quit, pull my child, and report them ASAP. This is not only dangerous, but it is wrong to treat little kids like this. Rudeness and intimidating kids is not a cultural thing. There are loving and nurturing people of all cultures.

youre mandated to report abuse ..by not reporting it you are risking your job ,and are implicated in the abuse. She has no right to yell at any child nor tug their arms. You better report this and have her daycare liscense revolked forever

Do you live in WI by any chance? Sounds exactly like a situation I had! I ended up quiting and now watch my niece and nephew at my house. I never want to work in a day care again after I went through that and saw how some people can treat kids. I would call the state on her. Good luck!
