Does anyone know of any childrens books or movies with the single parent being a dad instead of a mom.?
-
My 3 year old grandaughter is being raised by my son due to her mothers drug problem. Of course she misses her mom and we try to assure her that her mother loves her. She is very close to her father and he does a great job with her but the world is full of single parent families with moms raising kids. KT has started to feel very different especialy at day care and when she watches movies like the Heffalump movie and when they read stories at day care that all center around the Mommy and child. If anyone knows of any books or movies (especially animated) that focus on single parent families with the parent being a Daddy it would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:
I believe Finding Nemo deals with a single parent being a dad. From Amazon: <<Plot Outline: A father-son underwater adventure featuring Nemo, a boy clownfish, stolen from his coral reef home. His timid father must then search the ocean to find him Plot Synopsis: Marlin (a clown fish) is a widower who only has his son Nemo left of his family after a predator attack. Years later, on Nemo's first day of school, he's captured by a scuba diver and taken to live in a dentist office's fish tank. Marlin and his new absent-minded friend Dory set off across the ocean to find Nemo, while Nemo and his tankmates scheme on how to get out of the tank before he becomes the dentist's niece's new pet. >>

Book: "Night Shift Daddy" I can't remember the author, anyhow, it is an excellent book. Also another book, "What Daddies Do Best" by Laura Numeroff, illustrated by Lynn Munsinger. Please read to her!

All the Disney movies mentioned would be great. A book suggestion would be "Guess How Much I Love You?" with the nutbrown hares. I don't read this book to my children because their father is not at all involved & they are only 2 & honestly don't know what a father is...but I remember it being about a daddy & son hare. WAY TO GO to your son! A good father is important, especially to a little girl. Keep up the good work in supporting him.
