How a stay at home mom can make money so we can keep our home?

I nanny in the morning and babysit after school so I don't have to go out and get a real job...maybe get licensed and offer care in your home after school for a few kids after school. (like the bus on your route can drop them off and you watch them till the parents get home)

Maybe offer after-school care for other kids in your neighborhood, or babysit during the day too.

Before I answer your question.. WOW AMO 45 thumbs DOWN!! Anyways, I am in the same situation, child care is too expensive around my area to take my kids to, and I don't trust other people I don't know with my kids. (Abuse happeneings with sitters and daycare people happen often) What I have looked into is a home based buisness, or caring for other children during the day, you could clean a friend or family members house or put up ads to do a strangers. Theres a few ideas...

although we are not in that situation we are living pay check to pay check. I stopped working the end of may because of the cost of childcare. I do however keep a child after school for $100 mth and I was keeping a 2 1/2 yr old at $30 day. He will no longer be here so I have picked up a sister and brother part time $35 day for about 5hours and they will only be here 2 or 3 days a week so i still have some time w/ just my son! I advertised on Craigslist and I also sell on Craigslist (no fees like ebay) If you are considering a full time job you possibly qualify for the state to pay for childcare as well. This depends on the combined income of the family.

Get a job and stop having kids!

I like the first two responses. Here in my town a family home daycare charges $125 a week for a full time child and $25 a day for before and after school care. If you watched 5 kids a week you would have the money to save your house in one short month. Stay in contact with the bank and let them know you have a plan and are trying. With the housing market going down hill they would much rather work with you on the payment rather than foreclose. Hang in there....I wish you the best of luck

I'm in a similar situation, and husband just got laid off as well...ugh. After our first kid, I worked at my old high school job, a fast food place, at nights after husband got home from work. I often worked 5-10 shift, then closed one to two nights a week, getting me home around 1-2am. Now husband travels so I can't work anymore at night. I liked the suggestion of cleaning houses/businesses....maybe you could take your kids with you to do that? Or pet sitting (checking in and feeding cats while owners are away). Also, bus driving. They sometimes have free daycare in the building, or you can take your kids with you on the bus.
