How can you tell if your bladder is full?

How can you tell the difference if your water breaks or if your bladder just go?

  • dont answer with a stupid question. i am 37 weeks pregnant and i was wondering what the difference is between your water breaking and yourr bladder just letting whatever is there go. How can you tell the difference

  • Answer:

The smell (or lack thereof) might alert you to begin with. Amniotic fluid doesn't have a distinct smell that you would assiciate with urine. It's also clear. Amniotic fluid can release in a couple ways: It can go all at once, in a huge rush (and if this happens, believe me, you won't mistake it for a bladder release. I promise.) It can also start to leak a little, and you might notice this as an annoying wetness in your underwear. Do I need a pad? you might think. Then after you go through a few pads and there's no urine smell, you realize it's your water and you take whatever your next step is. That's how mine went. Then again, I have a friend whose sac was so strong it had to be burst during labor (totally not painful, just helped the labor process along.) At that point it was pretty evident what was happening. Good luck.

I had my water broken at the hospital, and when I stood up, it felt like I was on my period and not wearing a tampon. You know how you can feel the blood trickling down into the pad? That's EXACTLY what having my water broken felt like.

There is a difference in color and smell. I know it sounds gross, but if it smells musty it's probably your water, if it smells like urine then it's urine. If you aren't sure if your wwater broke - go see your Dr right away. Waiting too much long could cause an infection.

It is two very different types of feelings. You know what it feels like when you have something in your bladder. Unless you just get a slow leak in your water bag (which has happened to me) it is an incredibly large amount but you do not really feel the pressure etc of having urine in your bladder. Trust me there are just some things you know even when you are doubting yourself! Also MOST people especially with their first baby are having contractions for awhile before the water breaks. So you will know then. And also contractions become extremely worse after the water breaks 99% of the time because your body now has room to contract more. So those are two ways of knowing for sure. If you have something happen and are really just in doubt go right to the hospital. They can test and see if it is amniotic fluid!

oh trust me, youll know lol

leishie!!!

USUALLY IF YOUR WATER BREAKS THERE WILL BE CRAMPING...LABOR PAINS...AND THEN THE WATER WILL LEAK OUT EVERY TIME YOU HAVE A CONTRACTION..

. Prior to it you will probably feel a punching sensation in your lower abdominal or pelvic area and then a gush of fluid then it will continue to leak and there is nothing that will stop it. it will probably be more than your bladdr can hold. If it is just torn it may seem like you just peed your pants or if the babies head blocks it off then you may have a few options if you aren't sure, you can smell it but the hospital can do a test to verify for you. Most likely though you will know after it breaks because the only warning is the pop and by then it is too late.

I know this is gross but after u go look in the toilet. If u see floaties like wet tissue paper ur water broke. I worn black undies when my water broke, felt a tight sensation when it happened, when I looked at my panties I saw tissue paper like things at the crotch area. That's how I knew my water just broke. Then afterwards..well u don't walk normal. LOL U walk like ur holding something between ur legs. The nurses called it the water walk...
