What to Expect When You're Expecting? (book)?
-
Hello, I just want to know if "What to Expect When You're Expecting" is a good book. I'm 3 months now and want to get a pregnancy book that will distract me and help me throughout my pregnancy. Also, I want to know if the price I found it for is REALLY good, or at least GOOD. I found it for $9.95...how much is it regularly? Do you know? Can you recommend any other GOOD books out there that I can probably get that are better than this one? Thank yoU!!!

I loved it, and read nearly the whole thing before I was even 6 weeks along. It's a great reference guide when you have questions about what's normal and not normal, what to eat, what's going on with your baby in any given month, etc. Just don't read the chapters about problems with pregnancy unless they apply to you...doing that will only increase anxiety! I think I also paid about $10 for my copy at a book store, but I know that you can find used copies elsewhere much cheaper. My mom found one at a bargain book store for $2, but it was too late since I'd already bought my copy. Another one I have enjoyed reading is Your Pregnancy Week by Week by Glade B. Curtis and Judith Schuler. The book is organized by weeks, instead of months like What to Expect, and although I don't feel it's as informative in a literary sense, it has illustrations of what your baby looks like at every week of pregnancy. I'm always holding up the pictures and showing my husband, "Look! This is what he looks like right now!" I didn't have to buy this book - I received an older copy from a friend, and then a program that works with my health insurance company sent me a new copy in the mail! Another good read to start now is What to Expect The First Year. My first comment about this book was how much BIGGER it is in size than What to Expect When You're Expecting! I haven't read very far into it yet, but it's every bit as informative as Expecting. Best of luck, congratulations, and happy reading!!

10 dollars seems reasonable for the book and it is one of the best books to get if you're expecting. if you don't want to shell out the dough for the book. a lot of libraries actually carry books now for mothers to be. good luck to you!

This is a really good book: Your Pregnancy Week by Week, Fifth Edition. You can get it on amazon new/used I attached the link. You can read ahead in the book and find out what it will be like in 4 weeks from now. Highly recommend.

I bought a used version for about $6 at a local resale shop, but $10 is not bad. I LOVED this book. I highly recommend it. It's organized very well, so you can keep coming back to it for each period of the pregnancy, as well as search for specific topics. It was definitely my favorite. Congrats!

Not sure about the price, as mine was given to me from a friend. It's a great book!! I also picked up at a yard sale, What to expect the first year; so you might look for this one too!! You won't need to much to distract you, the time will fly...trust me! Congratulations!

The book is awesome!! I have referred to it too many times to count!! $9.95 is a good price. I also liked Pregnancy for Dummies. It's a little more down to earth than what to expect. Both books are great!! Congrats and Good Luck!! :)

Awesome book! $9.95 is a great price. It has a lot of info for first time parents, and some good stuff for second time parents as well. Also look for what to expect Toddler years. It has lots of info about the stages after the birth.
