What is it like being a midwife?

Does labour sound near? midwife can't tell me, i don't know how much longer i can last?

  • I should know the answer to this myself since this is my 3rd pregnancy but the other 2 were nothing like this and i'm getting worried. This has so far been the easiest pregnancy i could have wished for until about a week ago, i am now 36 weeks, i am totally drained of energy but have weired little hours where i have such a bursts of energy i am like a mad women with a duster, i feel constantly sick but hungry, i have started to wake up 2-3 times during the night for a wee, i now have loose stools and am going more regular than before, i have pains so bad in my tummy, back and tops of my legs that i can not walk for more than 10 mins before the pain becomes unbearable, it feels like the babys head is dropping or putting so much pressure that i feel i should be pushing, the pains also happen when i am resting and sleeping, it really does feel like contractions but they are not regular, they come and go throughout the day and night, they are just so much worse when i try and walk etc. The midwife has just been to see me and says she thinks the baby is breech! although it is possible the baby is so deeply engaged which means the head she is feeling is actually a boney bum and not the head after all. I can feel the baby hic up, the hic ups are very low down which makes me think the baby is head down, the midwife also listened to the heart beat which is also very low down i don't know what that means though. Sorry for the long post but i can't take much more of this, i have my whole family on a rota to take my children to school etc because i can't do the hour long trips every day.
