What are the signs of labor?

  • I am 8 months pregnant with first child and have no idea what to look for signs of labor. I always kinda figuired that if I start having the worst pain in my life that, that would be labor but are there any earlier signs that labor is coming? I have been overly exhausted but that could be that I am short in stature and got huge. I have also been feeling miserable like I am sick with bad muscle pain everywhere but I have felt only one contraction last week but that was the only one. I was putting groceries away and I might have over did myself which caused that muscle spasm.

    ok people say your water will break but that does not always happen they had to break my water i knew when my contractions came and... yeah that was probably the worst pain i have had in my life haha but when you get to the doctor you can choose to get an epidural which really helps other than that some people said you will start to clean a lot (nesting) other than that i am not sure any other signs besides contraction good luck

I have never been pregnant nor in labor, but I believe you will know when your are near going into labor, because the contraction will become closer together, and your water will break. You will probably feel like your having the worst period in your life...

Back pains, have to constantly urinate, constipation cramps that are very strong and uncomfortable that come and go.Or, if you feel pressure pushing downward from you stomach then you need to get to the hospital.

There are several ways of telling if you are or soon to be in labor. Here are the ones that I have either experienced, or seen my friends and family experience: *Your water breaks. (Though this is not a very common one) *You feel a tightening of your stomach. This may or may not be painful. *You lose your mucus plug. This is a really gross and a little bit bloody loogie (best way I can explain it. LOL!) You will find this in the toilet, usually. *Your runny nose is no longer runny. This would happen shortly before you go into labor. *You get into a major cleaning mood, and you will clean the oddest things that you normally wouldn't. This is called nesting, some women don't go through this, but it is a sign that labor is on its way. *Leaking, kinda the same as your water breaking, although there is no super gush of water like in the movies. If feels like you are peeing but cannot stop. Go to the doctor right away if this happens. I hope this helps. I'm sure there are other ways of telling, but these are the ones that are known to me. Very strong menstrual cramps. You'll also feel your contractions much closer together. Your water might break, but that is very rare. They had to break mine both times, which is a bit uncomfortable. Trust me. You will know.
