What are some positives about?

I don't understand... false positives or too soon or what?

  • So my last bleeding of any kind was Feb 4th, but i had sex on the 25th and 28th of February as well as March 6th. I went to the doctor March10th nd had a negative blood test. I went back two weeks later and had another blood test that came back negative. In the next week I took 13 hpts that all came out positive so I called my doctor and they did a urine test which also came back positive. Since the urine test was done at my general doctor, they sent me to an obgyn. I went to the obgyn yesterday and they said they couldn't find a fetal heartbeat and that they needed to run more blood work. I've been waiting for a call back but haven't got one. They said the hpts were most likely false positives. But is it even possible to have13 hpts come out positive and still be able to get positives when I take them but repeatedly test negative with my blood? Is it just too soon to hear a fetal heartbeat? They refuse to do an ultrasound until my hcg levels are at or above 3000. Should I go to a different doctor or just wait?

    It probably is too soon to hear the heartbeat. I had an ultrasound at 8 weeks, saw the baby, saw the heart beating but it was still to faint to be able to actually hear the heart beat. I'd just wait out the week or so until they'll give you an ultrasound. Or you could do what I did :) I'm having trouble getting into an OB because of issues with my husband getting out of the Marines and insurance transfers and all that so I just paid out of pocket for an ultrasound at a little 3D 4D clinic. Got to see my itsy bitsy and it really helped to actually see the baby. The chances of ALL those false positives, are pretty slim. Good luck!

You should just wait! They probably think it's too early to do an ultrasound and most likely no hospital will that early so going somewhere else won't really help! Just be patient. Youre probably pregnant but It might just be too soon to hear a heartbeat, I saw it at 7 weeks through an ultrasound and 9 weeks with the Doppler, but for some women they can't find a heartbeat until later, it's not a bad thing.

Well, the HPTs will detect any amount of HGC in your urine. One of the unfortunate things about the amazing technology of HPTs is that you are able to detect a small amount of HGC of a fertilized egg very early in pregnancy. While the figures are sometimes disputed, I've read that around 20% of fertilized eggs are non-viable (wrong amount of chromosomes, missing cells, etc). The sad thing is that our HPTs pick those up as pregnancies before our bodies have a chance to realize that those cells will never be able to grow. Now, that said - they can not hear a fetal heartbeat until you are around 8 or 9 weeks. So they did some blood tests to check what your HGC levels are. Your HGC levels should be doubling ever 48 hrs so they make take another blood test to see if your levels are changing. They can't see anything (not even the sac) at 2000 or less. You will kind of just have to wait and find out. All the best <3
