There is no legal age in the UK. But if you leave a young child it is considered to be neglect. I think 12 years for short periods would be fine, but depends how mature and responsibe the child is. I left my 12 year old while I went on shopping trips and called home while I was out to check he was OK.

it depends on if they are sensible enough to leave alone i could leave my 14 yr old with my 11 yr old but they would probably kill each other so i take them both with me

There is no legal age, but you must not leave them in a situation where they would be in danger. It depends on how mature the child is.

There is no law which governs the minimum age at which a child can be left alone, however it is an offence if you leave a child if it puts them at risk. If you feel that your children are mature and sensible enough, then I don't think there should be a problem. My daughter was 12 when I first left her, but I made sure she had my mobile number, where I was going to be and strict instructions not to answer the door to anyone, or answer the phone unless the caller ID informed her it was someone she knew. I must admit I was gone maximum half hour and it was the longest in my life - but she had no problems.

people will tell you so many different ages and reasons that you never are quite sure, i can tell you only what i was told by a police officer when i asked the same question, 13 as long as thay are not left with younger kids and behave in a manor that does not cause any harm to themselfs or others and not for a long period of time ? dont know if this is correct as i was also told it depends on the actual child some 13yr olds are like 3yr olds so long as you know your child can be trusted and safe you go shop girl, you will find your kids love the bit of independants and trust so wont let you down good luck have to try it sometime, only way to find out happy shopping

I don't think that there is a legal age, persay, but you will know when your kids are mature enough to be left alone. I personally wouldn't do it until they were at least 12 or so.

i think it is 12 for a girl and 14 for a boy that is how it is in the UK anyways but that is for a few hours not for overnights good luck
