I need some Advice from Single parents who were able to find help to go back to school?
-
I am a single parent of twins and I was looking into trying to go to school while waiting on a few job openings that i will most likely get hired for. I was going into massage therapy but the tech school i was with screwed me over in the end and I ended up pregnant with my boys and it was history after that. --I was just wondering what programs are out there for single parents trying to go back to school. I hear so many people say there friends or friend of a friend was a single parents and got help with school through certain programs (not talking about financial aid from the school they attended) but yet I cant seem to find anything legit. Ive looked online but ran into nothing but false pages that want to get your email address so they can spam you but I know stuff like this you have to find in your state not online. I live in San Antonio, Tx and I badly want to go to school but i seem to get stuck running in circles with no direction where to go. I went to a medicaid office to just get information on any type of program for single parents but the lady there that i kept getting acted like there was no such thing even though Im hearing all around me single parents in programs putting them through school, not sure if there cheating the system to get it or doing extreme things just to get it, I was just curious. -If there is no hope and the only way is to get into deep debt to go to school id rather hear it then have hope there is such a thing as programs that are extreme helpers for single parents. ***AND Please no negative criticism on any of this thats not what i asked for, i just asked for information so please be respectful ***

Answer:
If you are low-income, then the welfare/aid department offers free to low-cost child care. Just call and make an appointment, and they should be able to tell you your options as far as qualifying and getting started. If you know anyone (even if you hear a stranger talking about it) just ask! Ask them how they got into the program, what is the program called, who should you contact, etc. I'm in California, and I know here, the free to low-cost child care is provided through the CalWorks program.
