How do I know if an allergic reaction will occur again?

Possible allergic reaction?

  • For a 9 1/2 month old what are the symptoms of an allergic reaction to cows milk and how long does it take for an allergic reaction to occur after she has already drank it? She only had about an ounce mixed w/ water but I need to know if thats why she is sick. thank you

    First of all Poor Baby! Second of all - there are many reactions based on food allergies and every person is different. Hives, trouble breathing, swelling of the face/throat, diarrhea, vomiting, bad gas/tummy pain, rashes (particularly on the face or anywhere the milk touched her), - there are many more reactions, but these are the main ones. I run a Yahoo Group called Parenting an Allergic Child - I am sure you could find plenty more information there. We are a small group but we help support one another when the going gets tough :)

Could just be that the milk is too rich for her, even though you mixed it with water. It is reccomended that you dont give cows milk until at least 12 months and above. If she is allergic she will probably be sick a lot, come out in a rash and have a temp

Rashes, swelling, nausea, severe diarrhea. Anything can be a symptom and the response is usually very quick. However, have your baby checked for allergies before something worse happens.

I wouldnt go and disagnose my child and forbid them from drinking or eating all milk products for the rest of his or her life without getting an allergy test done. People who are allergic to things that are that much of a staple in every day foods have a hard time finding things to eat.
