Do you support the Susan B. Komen Foundation's decision to pull funding from Planned Parenthood?
-
"The Komen decision won’t put Planned Parenthood out of business. The health services group says that the Komen foundation has provided 19 clinics between $500,000 and $700,000 since 2005. That money paid for nearly 170,000 breast examinations out of the 4 million performed at Planned Parenthood clinics. It also covered 6,400 mammogram referrals of the 70,000 total referrals made at clinics. To make up for the loss, Planned Parenthood has established a “Breast Health Emergency Fund” of $250,000 from the Amy and Lee Fikes foundation. The Susan G. Komen Foundation did not return an immediate request for comment. According to the Associated Press, Komen spokeswoman Leslie Aun said that the charity cut off ties with Planned Parenthood because it is under investigation by Rep. Cliff Stearns, R-Fla., concerning the possible improper spending of federal funds on abortions." http://news.yahoo.com/breast-cancer-charity-pulls-funds-planned-parenthood-174857680.html Did you know that money donated and raised by Susan B. Komen was given to Planned Parenthood?

Answer:
I support it. I have given money to the Susan B. Komen foundation before through my entry into a few of their Race for The Cure events. No, I did not know that the time that they put money into Planned Parenthood. I doubt it would have changed my entry, but I do feel better now knowing any future monies will not go to Planned Parenthood. I fully support women getting access to necessary medical care.. But any facility that carries out abortions is not a facility or a group I want my money going to support. In any facility it is impossible to completely distance and separate your activities. Some of the funds, even inadvertently go to abortions when you give to Planned Parenthood. Whether in be for the salary for doctors that perform regular exams and abortions or for any other shared resources.

Wow. Charity and giving should be unconditional. Lets stop funding and supporting breast health because of political pressure... shameful!

No, I did not, but I completely support their doing so---makes a lot of sense. Planned Parenthood has the medical staff to perform breast exams and mammograms, and is able to provide these services to women who do not have the financial resources to get this service elsewhere. I am very disappointed in the Susan B. Komen Foundation and will no longer support them. IF WOMEN START TURNING ON EACH OTHER------WHO WILL BE LEFT TO MAKE DECISIONS FOR OUR MEDICAL CARE-----MEN, AND AS MUCH AS I LOVE MY HUSBAND, AND MEN IN GENERAL, I DO NOT WANT THEM MAKING MEDICAL DECISIONS FOR ME, OR OTHER WOMEN!!! I do not support their decision. The amount of money PP spends on abortion is probably about 1% of their total donations. Anyways, what I think is more important is the fact that Planned Parenthood screens for HPV, among other diseases, which can lead to cancer and regardless if they are fighting cervical or breast cancer, a cancer foundation should not turn it's back on women who need help.

I didnt know. I think if you donate money to one cause they shouldnt turn around and give it to someone else. I also dont know why everyones panties are so twisted up over planned parenthood. A tiny portion of theit business is abortion, the rest is preventative and maybe one of only affordable way for low income women to get regular checkups and bc. Its not just a big abortion factory.

Good. I am sure they can find another organization that is more responsible with their donations. No, I was not aware, because I have never given any money to either organization.

Yes I knew it. It's been one of the pro lifers agenda to stop giving Susan g komen foundations to stop giving money. Yes I support the Descion. planned parenthood has been under a lot of surveillance lately due to their unscrupulous use of federal funding and what not.
I didn't know but I'm glad they pulled their support of PP!!!

I support SGK's decision to defund PP. Planned Parenthood is the #1 provider of Abortions. I don't care what else the might do. They kill babies. Period. Talk aboout SHAMEFUL.

the Komen foundation is moving perilously towards becoming a business rather than a charitable foundation. My support will go to Planned Parenthood.
