When does an accident that kills your child become criminal?

Sounds like wreckless endangerment to me. The child should have been wearing at least a helmet,and he should not have weaved through there seeing the lights flash,common sense. He took a risk,and it ended in tragedy. Perhaps an example should be made of him.

That is extremely Negligent. It just depends if the DA feels it is right to file charges or not.

He should be held responsible. The high school student that was charged for killing another student while playing football was held accountable and that was an accident. This jackass deliberately put his child in danger...people should need to take a test be four being allowed to have kids.

That guy is a dumb***!!! The trolley driver shouldn't have to honk to assert his presence because that's what the flashing lights, ringing bells and auto arms are for! I say it's criminal negligence or at least endangerment of a child. If he's trying to blame it on the trolley driver, I say throw the book at him. However, if he admits that it was a VERY stupid mistake, I think they should let him be.

Yes it's criminal negligence...The Auto arms were down, red lights flashing and bells ringing. Those three things tells a person "hey moron, a trolley car is coming." If he wanted to play russian roulette with his own life - that's one thing. He played with the life of a child. Stupid people should not breed.

Criminal neglect and child endangerment. Add Manslaughter to that. Im sure he is suffering, but that doesnt let him off the hook for his actions. In St. Louis last fall there was a story about a baby who suffocated in the back of a car. Mom put the baby in Dads car expecting him to take baby to daycare. There was no communication and Dad didnt look in the backseat to make sure. Dead baby. They were both health care professionals, Dad a surgeon. No charges pressed which I found outrageous. I'll bet if they were poor or middle class they would have been prosecuted and persecuted. I recently read another story about parents leaving their baby in a cab van. Fortunately the cab driver returned the baby to the parents. The Cab driver was facing charges but not the parents. That infuriated me.
