Has Anyone Else Done this..?

Has anyone else ever done this, or am I a bad mom?

  • My three year old always wants to eat my food, even if he has his own. So sometimes I tell him what I am eating is spicy or gross to get him to leave me alone. Sometimes I just don't wanna share my food, ya know? Has anyone else done something like this?

  • Answer:

I've actually gone into the bathroom and locked the door to eat a swiss cake roll so I wouldn't have to share it LOL

I completely understand about not wanting to share your food, and I don't think that it makes you a bad mom. However, I have a strict no lying to my children rule. Maybe you could try saying "this is Mommy's food" and give him an alternative snack?

Honey, I hide in my pantry stuffing my face full of mudcake. I don't want to share my food, it's mine. Can't they see my name on it??

Hey, don't worry. He's gotta learn to eat his own food, after all...

You are not bad, but don't lie to him, simply tell him that you have the same thing that he does and he needs to eat his food. If he does not eat his food he will not get anything else. He must learn to eat off his own plate.

Yes...I have done that! What DRIVES me crazy is when I ask my kids if they are hungry and would they like me to make them a Sandwich since I am making one for MYSELF...the Girls will usually say NO Thanx Mom... (My BOY NEVER says NO) Then as soon as I have my sandwich and am eating it...my 13 year old daughter TAYLOR (Princess) ALWAYS starts asking "CAN I HAVE A BITE MOM"? Of Course I give the Monkey a Bite....BUT I JUST ASKED HER IF SHE WANTED HER OWN......SHE SAID..NO! What is up with that? LOL!

I would try that but Cade LOVES spicy food. He is a different child. He would take spicy and salty over sweets any day.

You are clever, not a bad mom. Sometimes, we just want something to ourselves. After all we give of our selves like crazy. Glad to see it works for you.

My kids do EXACTLY what Hearts daughter does. I'll be making something and say, "Girls do you want some? Tell me now, don't wait till I'm sitting down. I mean it, if you want some, tell me now." Them: "No..no...no..I'm so stuffed..bla bla bla" Then I sit down and they look at me with puppy dog eyes and say, "that smells good mommy. What's in that, mommy?" Me:" Well, do you want a bite or what?" Them: "Oh, I guess I'll have a little," GRRRR AND..... If I make extra *just in case* they NEVER touch it. ONLY if I don't make enough. If I happen to have extra they'll be like, "No ...ewe..I don't want THAT." Of course not. They'd rather I starve.
