Is being too strict the cause of rebellious children?

• I have noticed that if the parents are really strict on their rules the children rebel and at worst case turn on them and abuse their own parents. Is it true that being too strict is the cause of rebellious teens and kids? FIRST OF ALL I do not have any children nor do I plan to have any.

  Yes, it is so true. I have friend (shes 13) and she absolutely hates her mother now. Her mom never lets her do anything. Her mom won't let her date unless she knows the boy and his mother. Now, shes going behind her mothers back. Her mother won't let her watch certain things on tv. When I used to go over her house it's like let's watch that and she is not allowed to. She has no privacy nor freedom. There is actually a little box in her room that lets her mom hear everything. It is ridiculous. She can not watch PG-13 movies. Her mother hs to approve of her friends. She can not have an AIM account and she can't go on websites like youtube. Her mom is so unfair to her. Her mom won't even let me hang out with her anymore because of something that happened 4 months ago and I didn't even do it and she is my best friend. My friend now goes behind her moms back. She lies to her. She is rebelling. I look at my life and realize how much freedom I have. I feel bad. Parents should NOT be to strict with their children because it leads to this. They want to keep them in line but some parents take it to far. As for end up abusing their parents I guess it is different for everyone. Some could and some won't. Some parents might have somewhat abused their children then yes they might end up taking it out on their parents. If the child is raised in a good enviorment and is not exposed to violent things the child will probably not hurt there parent.
